My Choice For Today

My Choice For Today

As I wake up today I can choose
The way my day’s going to be.
I can gripe because of the rain,
Or be glad my lawn’s watered for free.

I can grumble about my poor health,
Or rejoice because I’m alive.
I can worry about excess weight,
Or thank God for enough food to thrive.

I can whine that I must go to work,
Or be thankful I have work to do.
I can mourn that I have no close friends,
Or develop some friends that are new.

I can dwell on each past hurt and pain,
Or forgive each injustice I see.
I can covet my neighbor’s new car,
Or count all of God’s blessings to me.

So I pray that today I will choose
To spend time in the best way I can.
And I know when I choose what is right,
I will also fulfill God’s command.
