From The Ashes
Of Gloom And Despair

You can live through seasons
of heartache & grief
and you can survive
every trial of flames,
If you keep your eyes
on the Lord Jesus Christ
and walk in the strength
of His name.

And if the faith in your heart
is solidly fixed
on God's goodness...
His sovereignty and grace,
Then you won't be defeated
by the assaults of this life
and your soul will keep
seeking His face.

If your perceptions of God
are not based on the temporary
but on the eternal truths
He's declared,
Then you will know He loves you....
no matter the crisis
and when the storms of this life
leave you scared.

If the focus of your prayers
isn't just the removal of problems
but that God regardless
would always get glory,
Then your eyes will see Him working,
no matter the outcome
and you will see Him
within your own story.

Then when the dark days arise...
like they always do
and you feel too weak to move
on one more day,
You'll find courage in the
all-surpassing power of God
when you rest in His strength
& you pray.

And when you praise Him and honor Him
every day that you live
and not just when
your life's going fine,
Then you'll rise from the ashes
of gloom and despair
with God's strength
in your heart & your mind.
