"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one
another as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."
( John 13: 34 )
Remember the old song called, "What the world needs now is love, sweet love?"
We really do need to see more love in this world. It all begins with receiving
the gift of love, given us by our Lord. We cannot really love others, as
we should, unless we have let Jesus fill our heart with His great love.
This world has been given the greatest gift of all, yet many do not recognize or receive it. God loved us so much, He sent His only begotten Son into this world to die for our sins and bring us to Him. There is no greater love than the love of our Savior, who was a willing sacrifice, that we might have eternal life. He grew the tree which He knew would be the old rugged cross of Calvary. Although man was sinful and disobeyed our Father's commands, God cared enough to send His very best that we might have eternal life.
Loving others with the love of the Lord will keep us blessed and happy as we grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. True christian growth begins with a love for the Lord and others as He has commanded. When we build upon a foundation of love, the fruit of the Spirit will be manifest in our lives and we will have true Christian growth and maturity.
Our Lord not only loves us, He is the very embodiment of the essence of love. If we truly know the love of God, we will have a reverent fear for our Lord as we honor Him and obey His words. God's Word tells us the greatest command is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and we are to love our neighbor as ourself.
We are to love others as the Lord has loved us. Even when this is hard to do, we will find with the "agape type love" in our lives we can love others as Christ first loved us. Love is an attribute of the Savior and will be made manifest in our lives when we abide in the True Vine, Christ Jesus.
True love for one another acts out of a heart with the attributes of the Savior. Love is an action word and will go the extra mile for others and stand beside them at all times. Love is kind and thinks the best of others while seeking the best for them. Love does not keep score of wrongs done, but will return good for evil. Love will never fail. When we keep God's commands, we are to keep them out of love, not fear or only because we know it is the right thing to do.
Loving our neighbor as ourselves is commanded by our Lord. We know we have passed from death unto life when we really love our brothers and sisters as Christ loved. This is an unconditional love. Even if one fails us or disappoints us, we must keep on loving them and praying for others as we would want others to do for us. We cannot change a life or heart
as it is only by a work of Holy Spirit one is changed to be like Jesus.
May we seek the Lord daily and know His love which has been so freely given. A sure sign that we love Him is obedience to his
Word and our love for each other. God looks at the heart as it
is his habitation. When we show forth the love of God to others,
we know we are growing in the knowledge of our Lord and are
true disciples of Christ.
Give thanks today for the greatest love of all as you continue to grow in grace, knowledge of our Lord Jesus, and the love of God.
"....And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself
for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God as a sweet smelling savour.."
{Eph. 5: 2} It's a wonderful world when we walk in the love of
God with Christ Jesus our Savior.
Blessings in Christ,
