Traveling

Some scenes throughout my childhood
Have come floating back to me,
Like riding in the rumble seat
Of our old Model “T.”

We held on for dear life when e’er
We hit a rut or dip,
And every time we climbed inside
‘Twas an exciting trip.

The roads were rough, most were unpaved,
And all were just two-lane,
And they became a quagmire when
There poured a little rain.

We watched for Burma-Shave signs if
We traveled very far.
They helped to ease the boredom felt
From long hours in our car.

The world has changed so much since then
It taxes memory.
For men have traveled into space,
Above earth’s canopy.

But I am looking forward to
The day my soul shall soar
Into the arms of Christ my Lord,
On Heaven’s golden shore.

It can’t be long until I’ll kneel
At my dear Savior’s feet,
And thank Him for His sacrifice,
That made my life complete.

And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
( Matthew 28:8-10 )(KJV)

We thank you dear Lord Jesus for giving your life for us that we might have everlasting life.
