On His Shoulders
Our little ones put up their hands to be carried
When their tiny feet tire from walking too long.
And their favorite place is to ride on Dad’s shoulders,
As gently he lifts them with arms sure and strong.
It’s never a problem for Daddy to hold them,
For they are no burden – they’re little and light.
And they’re not afraid, for they know how he loves them,
And he never will drop them, or let them know fright.
How often I tire, and I feel weak and weary,
And no longer I’m able to accomplish each task.
But I raise up my arms to my Heavenly Father,
And I find He is waiting for me to just ask.
I know He will lay me atop of His shoulders,
And carry me, as His strong arms clasp me tight.
For I am His child, and to Him I’m not heavy,
And I can find rest in the darkest of night.
I’m thankful I have a dear Father who loves me,
A Shepherd Who cares for each lamb that has strayed.
In Him I find peace when I need love and comfort;
He draws me back even before I have prayed.
So when you feel down, and you can’t find the answer
To all of life’s problems that ravage your soul,
Just lift up your arms to your Father Who loves you,
And He’ll carry you close till your heart is made whole.
